Every week, Rochelle Wisoff-Fields (thank you, Rochelle!) hosts a flash fiction challenge, to write a complete story with a beginning, middle and end in 100 words or less. Post it on your blog, and include the Photoprompt and Inlinkz (the blue frog) on your page. Link your story URL. Then the fun starts as you read other peoples’ stories and comment on them!
Photoprompt (c) Dale Rogerson
The removal firm were neat. They stacked the boxes six high, almost filling the ground floor. Wendy looked at the cartons; her whole life packaged; a new start, in a new apartment, in a new city. She looked at the beautiful flowers, the tall ones from her mother, the smaller bouquet from her brother. She was a thousand miles away from them, and they were still thinking of her.
She needed bookshelves. She’d better unpack the microwave; no, she could eat out tonight. She switched on her laptop and began typing. That ‘Friday Fictioneers’ post wasn’t going to write itself!
Oh, now, that was a good one! 🙂

Thank you, Iain! I’m glad you enjoyed it. I’ve done the whole moving thing many times. You reach a point when you want to do something different, despite all the myriad tasks that should have higher priority.

Thank you, Sight11! A bit cheeky, I suppose. Still, if Hollywood can be self-referential…!

yes it´a hard thing to prefer doing something passionated ( of course) and having some “must to do- things” next to you. I´m kind of ignoring this at the moment successful…hahaha…but I know, that some things must be done, otherwise, they will overrun you, and will become even more work…so today, I think I have to spend some time with shitty things!

Meta-fiction! I’m going to write a story about a woman writing a story about a story writer!

If you make it circular enough, you’ll confuse us all as to what’s reality and what’s fiction. And isn’t that the ultimate goal of any writer of fiction? Or am I a writer of fiction because reality confuses me? Hang on a moment…
Thanks for the comment, Martin!

Dear Penny,
In the midst of all that moving, I’m glad to see that she has her priorities straight. 😉 Good one!
Shalom,
Rochelle

Thank you, Rochelle! Friday Fictioneers is a real ideas factory. Now I’ve done it a few times, I find myself thinking, “Now Lynn will probably do this, and Iain might do that, and Martin will probably have a twist…” and then I try to do something different. And even if I’m totally wrong about everybody’s choices, I’ve been stimulated to think of all sorts of responses. It’s a great job you’re doing by hosting it, Rochelle, and I really appreciate the diligence with which you read and comment on peoples’ posts.

I’m all about reciprocating, Penny. It’s what makes this group unique I think. However, I have to confess, that while I try to read them all, I don’t always comment. If I find that someone merely drops their story and runs or never leaves a comment on mine, I return the ‘favor.’
I love they way you’ve come part of the group. That’s what makes it fun for me. 😉

Haha that writers’ urge always takes precedence. But don’t forget writers are readers too, and hopefully commenters as well. Saying what works for us and doesn’t work fully helps us with our own writing. Or so I have been told.
